Rysstad grew up in the small village of Rysstad in Setesdal. An area well known for its traditional folk music, Setesdal has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Kim is one of very few singers keeping the vocal folk music from this area alive, and this has also led to many projects working with musicians from other genres, such as jazz, blues, country and classical music. Recording a Christmas album with the London Philharmonic Orchestra is something quite extraordinary, but in 2017 it became a reality for Kim. “Snøen laver ned” went to #1 in Norway and was hailed as “the most beautiful Christmas album of the last decade”. Since 2007 Kim has released 7 albums, travelled both nationally and internationally giving concerts, participated in TV programs, MGP (Eurovision), hosted radio shows and has even done musical theatre.

His voice is one of a kind and will leave you mesmerized!
