Old traditions meet the modern world in Kajsa Balto’s musical expression, where yoik and Northern Sámi lyrics are presented in a soulful soundscape. Kajsa has made her mark with her distinctive vocal expression and has garnered praise for both her releases and live performances. She performs her material with an enchanting intensity, creating powerful live experiences that leave listeners eager for more.
Since her debut in 2017, she has written new music based on traditions from Kárášjohka, where her father comes from, and has arranged traditional yoiks collected from within her own family.
In recent years, Kajsa has collaborated with the Arctic Philharmonic and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK) and has toured at home and abroad with her band consisting of cello, guitar and drums.
Kajsa and the band are currently working on her upcoming album release, which is due in 2024.
